Introduction
Go is a widely followed pastime in China, Japan, the Koreas, and Taiwan. All have governing organizations for their professional players. For many decades, Japan was the dominant cultural center for go, and young students from its neighboring countries would go there to study the game at a high level. However, with the increase in strength of China and South Korea, Japan is no longer the dominant power in the go world.
